Opera Hours

We are thrilled to announce our joyful and refreshing Opera Hour series with performances in Gateshead, London, Manchester, Nottingham and Teesside in March 2019.

The Opera Hour series focuses on the raw and authentic passion and epic emotions of everyday life.

Scenes from world-famous operas by Puccini, Verdi, Gilbert and Sullivan, and others will be presented with spirit, boldness and fun by the performers of Streetwise Opera, supported by live musicians. The Opera Hour series includes five performances.

• Thursday 21 March at Nottingham Trent University SOLD OUT
• Friday 22 March at Southbank Centre
• Tuesday 26 March at Royal Northern College of Music SOLD OUT

All events are FREE. Audiences are encouraged to make a donation when booking online. The London performance at Southbank Centre does not require online booking.

The performances feature the world-premieres of five opera choruses created by Streetwise Opera’s Composers in Residence, working with participants in Streetwise Opera workshops:

• 'Re-Union' by Emily Levy, Composer in Residence in Manchester
• 'Hestia Returns' by Ian Stephenson, Composer in Residence in Newcastle and Gateshead
• 'The Wedding' by David Wilson, Composer in Residence in Nottingham
• 'After the Storm' by Hayley Jenkins, Composer in Residence in Teesside
